MEET CHRIS

Chris is the proud son of immigrants from The Netherlands and he has lived in Hampton for the past 25 years. He is married to Melanie and father to Jenni and Ben, now adults. Melanie, Jenni and Ben are all graduates of Winnacunnet High School.

Between 2012 and 2015, Chris served on the Winnacunnet School Board. As Chairperson of the Board for two years, Chris worked with parents, teachers, and students to improve learning conditions throughout the school district. He was instrumental in updating the WHS Technology Plan to better support the needs of teachers and staff; something that benefited everyone greatly during the pandemic.

Chris served as one of Hampton’s State Representatives before; between 2012 and 2014. As a State Representative, Chris served on the Commerce and Consumer Affairs Committee as clerk. The position of clerk is often reserved for more senior members. Chris' appointment as committee clerk is a testament to his attention to detail and organizational abilities and to the respect from his peers he earned very quickly.

Chris sat on the Coastal Risks and Hazards Commission (CRHC) and participated in the drafting of the CRHC’s initial report on New Hampshire’s readiness for climate disasters. He also sponsored a bill to make New Hampshire the first state in the country to ban the payment of “subminimum wages” to individuals with disabilities.

Chris earned his BA in economics from Bowdoin College and his MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. After school, Chris worked for over 30 years in the private sector for Wheelabrator Technologies, Raytheon, Fisher Scientific, Fidelity Investments and Comverse. In 2015 Chris was appointed Chief Executive Officer of One Sky Community Services, a non-profit based in Portsmouth providing supports and services to individuals with developmental disabilities. Chris retired from that post in 2020.

Chris will bring his financial and human resource management experience and his understanding of state government and the challenges that those in our state who are less fortunate face to Concord as your State Representative.

Chris is a bipartisan problem solver who listens to his constituents before acting in their best interest. He will work across party lines with those who share his commitment to move our Seacoast Community and our state forward. Chris brings a strong work ethic, a passion for finding practical, cost-effective solutions, and an energetic spirit.

If you see Chris around your town please stop him. Take a few minutes to talk to him about the issues that are important to you.
